JANE AUSTEN WILL HELP ME FILL THE VOID

Join the Read-a-Long!

Unputdownables is hosting a fabulous and very organized read-a-long of Jane Austen's Persuasion in the month of January.  There's still time to join and there really is no better way to pass long winter nights than with Jane Austen.

I've read Pride and Prejudice about a dozen times - sometimes forced and sometimes not.  I've read Sense and Sensibility and wrote my first research paper ever on it.

I've never read any of Austen's other works and have never seen an Austen book made into a movie (I'm so not a movie girl).

It looks like a fantastic group of readers and I think there may be prizes!

Come join the fun!

  1. You and Melody may have talked me into it. I'll have to check my other reading responsibilities (with my bookclub) and see if I can swing it. I have read it before, but it has been a very, very long time ago.

    1. Seriously, just 9 pages a day. You could get up about 10 minutes early or stay up 10 minutes later or take a bath for 10 minutes longer or lock yourself in the laundry room 10 minutes longer... I mean I've resorted to all of these methods with great results. Yay! I'm so excited. Maybe I'll talk Paula into it too.

  2. This kind of organized reading looks to be so much fun!

Unfortunately January commitments and general busyness will prevent me from joining in. I also really need to get around to reading Jane Austin.

Have a great time with this!

    1. Brian - You have to check out Unputdownables blogspot. She has a whole list of read-a-longs for 2013. I remember Crime and Punishment, Agnes Grey, another Jane Austen. If you're going to do a read-a-long, I think this would be a good place to join in especially because you are in to the classics.

  3. Considering it.....probably won't happen, though. I am overwhelmed just thinking about all the school stuff going on.
But I DO already own the book.....

  4. 9 pages a day, Miss Paula. Do you have a highschooler this year? Well, if you think you can, we would love to have you. Belle

  6. Whelp, I'm in! Thanks for posting about this. I was tempted to skip out of fear for a crazy schedule, but then I said whatever.

    1. We can get it done together. If you want to do mini-conversations as you read, you know where to find me. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this book.
